Certified organic by the Soil Association, George Street Blend is our go-to house coffee. Strong enough to shine through milk, George Street is carefully roasted to highlight the coffees’ robust, natural flavours while also pushing through a deep sweetness that helps create a syrupy body. This version of our mainstay blend was created by combining two coffees from South and Central America: the Colombian coffee Planadas, which provides sweet caramel, citrus and red berry notes, while the Peru Coinca adds sweetness and body.
Asociación de Productores Agrícolas Tolima Grande is the Colombian component of this version of George Street. This coffee comes from two indigenous cooperatives on the Planadas and Gaitania lands, which are protected for indigenous peoples and have about 6,000 trees per hectare. The people there have strong commitments to protecting their land and the environment, which shows in their coffee.
Our Peruvian coffee is grown using organic farming techniques and comes from 198 producers in the COINCA Cafés Especiales (CCE) program. In the regions of Chanchamayo and Satipo, producers grow Catuai (40 percent), Catimor (30 percent), Caturra (20 percent) and other varieties between 1,100 and 1,700 metres above sea level. Pichanaki, sometimes spelled Pichanaqui, is the modern name of the village of Pichana – the site of a historic indigenous people.
